Who we are
The Platform is a group of people, bodies and associations who came together in the face of continual attacks on the natural environment in the Priorat area, to argue in favour of a different model for development and administration. It all started with proposed wind farm projects, with the original aim of protecting the Montsant mountain range - now a Natural Park - and other areas of special natural interest, against the proliferation of proposals for wind farms in our small area, with up to 14 in the Priorat alone and about 69 in southern Catalonia. So far, achievements include the setting up of the Parc Natural de Montsant and the signature (by all the political parties represented in the Priorat, plus the Platform) of the Local agreement for the implementation of wind power in the Priorat.
We contribute to debate on issues such as regional planning in general, town and country planning, communications and energy on the basis of the principles of sustainable development, participation and the preserving our natural and cultural heritage.
Over 100 associations and bodies are affiliated to the platform, including wine cellars, political groups, cultural associations, parents' associations, municipal councils, women's groups, ecologist groups and others. See a list
What we stand for
- Rational, sustainable development in the Priorat area: we support the planned Landscape Charter and the Priorat's candidature as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural landscape.
- The defence of our natural and cultural heritage

What we do
Our activities to date include:
- Organising demonstrations and other actions
- Negotiations with political parties and the Catalan government
- Public meetings in the villages of the Priorat, annual symposia on landscape and development and other information-based activities
- Press releases, articles and columns
- Signature of the Acord Comarcal, the local agreement for the rational implementation of wind power in the Priorat, with the local political parties: Independents, CiU, ERC and PSC. (See the text of the agreement, in English)
